GeeLark Cloud Phones With Mobile Proxies

GeeLark is a cloud phone platform: instead of a browser profile, each item in your workspace is a virtual Android device running in the cloud, complete with its own apps, storage and device identity. That makes it a natural fit for social media work, because the platforms' own mobile apps run on it the way they would on a handset. What the cloud phone still needs is a mobile network to sit on, and that is where ProxySocial comes in. We put real SIM cards from AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon in modems we own, and each GeeLark phone can route through one of them so its traffic looks like it comes from a phone on a US carrier. This guide covers setup, session handling and scaling for social account management.

What a cloud phone needs from a proxy

GeeLark lets you assign a proxy to each cloud phone. The proxy settings for a device take a type such as HTTP or SOCKS5, a host, a port and a username and password. A check action confirms the proxy answers and reports the exit IP and its region, and GeeLark can align the device's region, timezone and language with that IP so the phone does not contradict its own network.

Because the entire device routes through the proxy, not just a browser, the choice of proxy matters more than usual. Social apps read the network route at the system level, and a carrier address makes the cloud phone consistent with the mobile app running on it. A datacenter address does the opposite.

The one-click GeeLark link in the ProxySocial dashboard

The ProxySocial customer dashboard lists every proxy with its host, HTTP and SOCKS5 ports, username, password and rotation link. Next to each proxy there is also a one-click GeeLark link. Opening it hands the proxy details to GeeLark so you can attach the proxy to a cloud phone without retyping anything.

If you prefer to enter details by hand, or you are configuring many devices through the GeeLark API, the same values are visible in the dashboard and available from our API. The one-click link is a convenience; nothing about the proxy is different if you skip it.

Step-by-step: attaching a proxy to a cloud phone

Work through the following once per device.

Sticky sessions for social accounts

Social platforms notice when a logged-in device changes network address abruptly, and cloud phones stay logged in for long stretches. Keep the proxy sticky while a phone is running. ProxySocial proxies hold their address until you ask for a rotation, so the default behaviour is already what a social account wants.

Rotate between sessions rather than during them. A reasonable rhythm is to stop the phone, trigger the rotation link, and start it again, which gives the device a fresh carrier address for its next stint. Rotations are unlimited on every plan, so there is no reason to ration them. Avoid per-request rotation for social devices entirely; it is a tool for research and monitoring, not for accounts.

Scaling a fleet of cloud phones

Give each cloud phone its own proxy. Two accounts on the same address are linked in a way that is hard to undo, and one proxy per device keeps every account's network history separate. GeeLark groups and tags help here: label each device with the metro its proxy sits in and the carrier behind it, so nobody accidentally starts a phone on a mismatched route.

ProxySocial runs modems in eight US metros, from New York and Los Angeles to Miami and North Carolina, with Boston on 4G LTE only. Choose the metro that fits the persona of the account. If a client's focus moves to another region, location moves are free — just ask and we will re-home the proxy.

Frequently asked

Do I have to use the GeeLark link, or can I enter the proxy manually?

Either way works. The one-click link in the ProxySocial dashboard saves typing, but the host, ports and credentials are shown next to it and can be pasted into GeeLark or pushed through the GeeLark API.

HTTP or SOCKS5 for a cloud phone?

HTTP covers browsing and most social app traffic. Choose SOCKS5 if apps on the device use voice or video calls or other real-time features, since our SOCKS5 endpoint carries UDP.

How often should I rotate the IP on a social device?

Only when the phone is stopped, and only as often as your workflow needs. A common rhythm is a single rotation between shifts. Rotations are unlimited, so the constraint is the account's comfort rather than a quota.

Is 15 GB of data per day enough for a cloud phone?

For posting, messaging and browsing feeds, yes, with a lot of room left. Heavy video uploads or hours of streaming use more, and the ProxySocial dashboard shows live usage so you can see how close you are.

Can I change the metro of a proxy that is already attached to a device?

Yes. Location moves are free, just ask. After the move, update the host and port in the device's proxy settings, or reopen the GeeLark link, and re-run the check.
